On Friday, July 11 and Saturday July 12 five (5) members
of the L&G Fire Safety & Wellness team were trained and certified
by Dräger instructor Rich Graeber and sales manager
Rick Phillips.
The two day-certification process combined a classroom session with practical hands-on
experience in the Fire Box.
Rich Graeber has over 30 years in combined seasonal, volunteer and professional fire service
experience.
Delivery of training and education has been the cornerstone of Graeber’s career.
He has designed and presented programs on a variety of fire service related topics Dräger is a
worldwide fifth generation family-run business that is a leader in medical and safety technology.
Dräger, founded in Lübeck in 1889, supplied the Burn Box and various high quality fire fighting
equipment for the training session.
Fort Garry Fire Trucks provided two new trucks for the training session.
Fort Garry Fire Trucks builds fire trucks, custom-built pumpers, aerial ladders, water delivery
tankers and related fire-fighting equipment.
Being on the leading edge of manufacturing, in both technique and design, Fort Garry’s extreme
body design has made them the largest builder of fire apparatus in Canada.
Their customers are mainly cities, towns, and municipalities throughout Canada, the US and
abroad.
The two-day certification session was a success as the L&G team members received thorough
classroom training while experiencing four sessions in the fire box.
Each student had the opportunity to lead the team during the fire box exercise.
L&G Fire Safety & Wellness would like to thank Dräger, Fort Garry Fire Trucks, SPI for the
turnout gear, B&L Safety Services, Rich, Rick and Lance Spencer.
The certification session has owner Laurie Gervais, confident that the L&G team members have
the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to teach Saskatchewan’s volunteer fire fighters.
